Connie Lefkowitz - Pen & Palette

This story appeared in the April 2010 issue of Pen & Palette,
the newsletter for the
Boca Raton Branch of National League of Pen Women.

MEMBERSHIP FOCUS ON
Connie Lefkowitz
by Myra F. Levick Ph.D.

It is indeed a pleasure and privilege to welcome Connie Lefkowitz as a member in our Boca Branch. Her amazing energy,
remarkable talent as a sculptor, and her Joi de vie all belie her senior status.

Connie majored in Physical Education at Panzer College, now part of Montclair University. After receiving her BS, she went
on to complete graduate work, earning a Masters Degree at Seton Hall, NJ. Studying anatomy and kinesiology, it seemed only
natural to create the body form in sculpture and led to her continuing studies with various artists in New Jersey and Florida.

Her introduction to this art form first took shape in the Art Life Studio in New York City. and in the Summit Art Galley, Summit, NJ.
Moving to Florida, she continued to nurture her evolving talent and sharpen her skills at the Montoya Studios with Paul Cummings,
and at the Beach and Varga Sculpture Studios. She is a multi-media artist, working in stone, metal and glass and has exhibited and
been represented by the Dover Gallery for a long period of time. She is a member of the Artists' Guild of the Boca Raton Museum of Art
and Women in The Visual Arts.

Her work has been exhibited in galleries and universities in Boca Raton and Palm Beach, and many of her sculptures are in collections
in New Jersey, New York, Florida and Texas. In 2005 she was invited to place her sculpture of an Israeli Soldier on permanent
exhibit in thelobby of Beir Halochem (House of Warriors) in Jerusalem.
Connie and her husband, Charles live in Boca Raton, FL.

While she no longer creates her well-known large pieces, she continues to sculpt lovely forms for her grandchildren
and great grandchildren.
